October 4th - 6th 2019

Role: Programmer/designer

Experience: For Piggy Punch, I was sent to Texas A&M to represent The Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) for the 2019 Chillennium Game Jam. Where we had from Friday October 4th to Sunday October 6th to make a full game. It was an extremely stressful period for me and everyone involved on the LCAD team. My contribution to the project was the enemy spawning feature, end result screen, round logic, and the basic attack. I also contributed to the overall balancing of the of enemies spawned and how fast they spawn. We decided to keeping it both factors relative to the amount of players in game. Despite the hardships during the 48 hour game jam, we had a wonderful time working and laughing together. This project is not as complete or polished as past projects I’ve worked on, but it was just as fun and teachable. My experience here taught me the value of planning out specific roles for each member of the team and to openly communicate constantly.

Gameplay (Taken from itch.io): Boink birds with yer buds in Piggy Punch, a four-player button masher created in 48 hours during the 2019 Chillennium Game Jam. The theme of the jam, "All for One / One for All", is echoed in Piggy Punch's game play. Three or four players defend a pile of treasure from chickens who try to steal a pile of treasure one coin at a time. After all of the chickens are defeated, the players fight each other to see who takes the treasure — including a gorgeous gold crown at the peak of the treasure pile. The winner of this fight takes that crown from the top of the treasure pile and transforms into the boss, a gigantic boar... All of the players are revived to fight the boss. If they win, the split the treasure but if the boss wins they take it all!
